Hi! I am Julia Madoka, the artist behind Kaleido.
Growing up between Japan and France was one of the greatest gifts my parents gave me. It taught me openness, curiosity, and a deep fascination for the beauty that emerges when different cultures, memories, and perspectives meet.
Like many people navigating multiple cultural worlds, I sometimes felt suspended between identities — never belonging entirely to just one place.
Art became my way of embracing that fluidity: a space where emotions, contradictions, memories, and influences could coexist freely.
Over time, I came to see identity not as something fixed, but as something constantly evolving.
With every encounter and experience, we collect new fragments of ourselves. Certain places, songs, and collective memories — sometimes far removed from our original cultural background — resonate with us so deeply that they gradually become part of who we are.
Kaleido was born from this vision: a world of emotionally expressive illustrations inspired by folklore, nostalgia, humor, music, and meaningful encounters across worlds.
Through each design, my hope is to create small objects filled with personality and affection — pieces that celebrate where you come from, honor the cultures that became part of you, and connect you to stories beyond borders.
